101.5 THE WILDCAT

The Wildcat is Westwood's #1 radio station, and north-eastern Ontario's home for More Music Variety.

THE LOGO DESIGN

The station manager for The Wildcat (formerly Wildcat Radio), Lisa, came to me wanting to update the stations branding, which had remained the same since the mid 1990's.

Wanting to give them a look that stands out, I researched similar radio station logos that used animals in their name, and I found that a lot of stations that used names like "The Cat", "The Tiger" and "The Wolf" had very similar logos, either a pay print, or a scratch.

I wanted to take a different approach and create a mascot character. While Wildcats are typically used to represent sports teams with edgy style mascots, I wanted to create one that gave the impression of friendly and inviting, and then The Wildcat mascot logo was born.

THE BRAND IDENTITY

For the brand identity, I created four variants of the stations logo, the main logo in a stacked/horizontal lockup, with the stations tagline below. I also created a stacked secondary variant with the Wildcat mascot on top of the typography.

I also created variants that are just the Wildcat mascot by itself, as well as just the typography for "101.5 The Wildcat" by itself as well, for use cases where the logo needs to be smaller.

PROMO BRAND ASSETS

Finally, I created brand assets for the station when they're out in public at events and on-site broadcasts, including a vehicle wrap for the station van, pull-up banners, a table cloth, tear drop flags, and a tent with a backdrop, that all keep the same design consistency throughout all pieces.

Additionally, I created a business card design for the sales team to use when meeting with potential clients.
